Quality Assurance Analyst & Team Lead

Jul 2016 - Dec 2017 | 1 yr 6 mos

After becoming a QA team of one, I took charge of hiring and building a new team from scratch. After hiring all the members, forming the team, and creating the new process, I was leading a team of six. I was coordinating priorities with development, infra, and product teams. Most importantly, I was making sure all testing was done thoroughly and on time, bugs and incidents were reported and prioritized correctly, and the product was working as expected according to its specifications. I also held the product role in which I was helping the cofounder design and specify new features, design the roadmap, and prioritize feature development.

Boooost: AI-Powered Smart Grocery and Pantry Management

Jan 2025 - Apr 2025

Designed and developed an end-to-end mobile application that unifies grocery planning, pantry tracking, deal discovery, and recipe recommendations into a single platform. Built a scalable cross-platform solution using Flutter, Firebase, and Google Cloud, with a modular architecture spanning the mobile app, cloud backend, data processing pipelines, and machine learning services.

Leveraged large-scale real-world datasets (3M+ Instacart orders, 500K+ recipes from Food.com, Open Food Facts API) to train and evaluate machine learning models. Implemented hybrid and zero-shot NLP-based classification pipelines (TF-IDF, BERT, Word2Vec, GPT-based methods) to categorize grocery items from noisy, unstructured data.

Developed a recommendation engine combining association rule mining (FP-Growth), embedding-based similarity (Item2Vec), and transformer-based sequential models, with transformer models achieving the strongest performance across ranking and accuracy metrics. Built additional ML pipelines for recipe search (semantic similarity), recipe generation (fine-tuned language models), and ingredient recommendation (BiLSTM + GRU).

Engineered an OCR-based catalog processing pipeline (Tesseract, PaddleOCR) to extract and index supermarket deals from PDFs, enabling real-time search within the app. Integrated barcode scanning and API-based product lookup to improve data coverage and reduce manual input.

Delivered a data-driven, personalized user experience that improves grocery planning efficiency and reduces household food waste through intelligent, context-aware recommendations.

To-do Lists and Note Taking App

Nov 2016 - Nov 2017

Native iOS app to manage to-do lists and notes. Everything from the initial idea to publishing it on the App Store was done by me.

The app uses Core Data to store lists, allows users to search through lists and notes, keep favorites, share data with others via email, and import/export all data from the app. Every task and list has an optional due date and reminder date (notifications). The user can see their own "score": how many tasks were completed versus how many tasks there were in total.

Keywords: Objective C, Core Data, Google Ads, Google Analytics

Features:

  • Multiple lists: create to-do lists to manage daily/weekly tasks, shopping lists, and long-term wish lists
  • Notes: create notes to save ideas, thoughts, recipes, and tips
  • Favorites: mark lists or notes as favorites and access them quickly through the favorites tab
  • Search: search through all lists and notes by any search term
  • Share via email/SMS: share selected and nicely formatted lists and notes via email or SMS
  • Import/export: back up data in JSON format and easily import and export via email
